How to Increase Your Writing Speed, Without Feeling Stressed

When I started out as a freelance copywriter, about a gazillion years ago, it didn't take me long to realize that the faster I could write, the more money I would make. So I became a student of just about every "speed writing" technique I could get my hands on.
I tried everything, from flow-of-consciousness writing to index cards to meticulous outlining. I got faster. But it seemed like I was always sacrificing something – fun, creativity, quality, something – to get that extra speed.
I wanted to write fast and fluidly. But I wanted to enjoy the process, too. And not experience the stress of having to push myself to "get it done quickly'.
Then, just a few months ago, I came across an excellent newsletter by Daphne Gray-Grant.
Daphne is a publication coach and a genuine expert on writing productivity. By reading her articles and following her advice I've been able to improve my writing speed by about 35%. More importantly, I'm now more relaxed when I write. The process has become more enjoyable and a lot less stressful. It's fun again!
